ADHD & Hyperfocus
Today I want to talk about hyperfocus and how you can use it to become very successful in life.
Most people with ADHD will know what I mean by hyperfocus.
It’s when you overfocus on a task. That task gets all your attention and all outside distractions get blocked out. Often hours will pass and you will not notice.
So when you are in hyperfocus you are seriously focused on the task at hand, and you may not hear me if I talk to you. In fact, you may get pretty irritated if interrupt that way!
Lots of people with ADHD hyperfocus on video games, socializing online, or reading fiction.
They lose a lot of time that way…
What you need to know is that hyperfocus could and should be used to your advantage.
I fact, many writers, scientists, and entrepreneurs have used hyperfocus in order to become extremely successful.
And so should you.
You might know already what subjects and actions interest and excite you – you will tend to hyperfocus on those automatically.
If you don’t – pay close attention. This may be the secret to your success.
Once you know what makes you go into hyerfocus, you should see how you can get that to work for you.
For example, I tend to hyperfocus when I have a difficult logical problem to solve. This makes computer programming a good career choice for me. When I have a task that I need to program, I could work on it for hours and get it done really well.
Other people really like to write, and they will hyperfocus on that.
What is it that brings you into hyperfocus? How can you use it to your advantage?
Finding the answers to these questions can make all the difference in your life.
Not only will you be more successful, but you will have fun and enjoy life a lot more than now!
