Passion and Fun in Internet Marketing

July 27th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Strengths

Here’s something I posted on an Internet Marketing forum.

Please let me know what you think.

What I want to talk about in this post is having a passion for what you do and having fun.

In order to keep up your excitement in your business you have to have a passion for what you are doing and you have to have fun. These things often go together.

Don’t get me wrong. You don’t necessarily have to love your niche (though it does help), but rather you should love HOW you do things.

This is important to everyone, but especially for people who have AD/HD or have the type of personality that is similar – those who like to jump from thing to thing, need excitement, and find it hard to force themselves to focus.

Personally I have a passion for helping people, learning new things, and problem solving. And I use that when I do my IM work.

So even though I’ve been doing this for a while, I am not bored.

I think a lot of people are not understanding this. I see this time after time when people ask me for help.

When they start something new, everything is new and exciting and its easy to get things done.

But after a while it just gets to be work, and people lose the excitement that they had when they started out.

One person even told me that making money is just not exciting to him anymore. So he would end up doing other things instead of working like watching Youtube videos and talking to friends on Twitter and Facebook.

And he didn’t end up working that much.

Which for him was a problem because his business wasn’t doing that well.

After asking him a few questions, I found out that he was really interested in a particular topic which I don’t want to give away, so lets call it Algebra. He also liked teaching. However, online he was selling something totally different. Lets say it was clothing.

So every day he was faced with the decision of either going to Facebook and talking to people about Algebra or working on selling clothes.

And you know what?

He was much more interested in speaking to people about Algebra that dealing with the clothes.

So he had to force himself to work on the business.

And that was a big energy drain.

So I asked him: why don’t you teach Algebra online? Why not have a membership site where you teach an Algebra course?

And you know what? this person is doing it. He is are actually teaching Algebra online now.

And he is having a blast.

You should see the excitement and the spark in his eyes.

And he doesn’t even have to force himself to create a lesson.

There is no energy drain there.

And he outsources the technical parts (which he doesn’t enjoy).

So what I’m trying to say is that if you have fun and if you do what you are passionate about it will give you energy.

And if not – your work will just take energy away from you. And that will eventually turn into a problem.

So that’s what I want you to take a way from this post.

Pay attention to what you like, what you are good at, and what you enjoy, and focus on that.

Oh, yes. And if you do it wisely and apply it to a good niche, the money will follow…

Are You an ADHD Genius?

July 21st, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Strengths

I am reading The DaVinci Method and I love it!  If you haven’t read it yet – I strongly recommend you do so ASAP.

If you have ADHD – it could change your life.

The DaVinvi Method is all about transforming ADHD from a problem into a strength.

It will completely transform your thinking and show you how to unlock the genius in you.

In The DaVinci Method Garret LoPorto explains why so many successful inventors, pioneers, billionaires, salespeople, and innovators have been people with ADHD.

The really short summary is that people with ADHD have a lot of creative energy.

The key to success when you have ADHD is learning how to channel all that creative energy into taking intelligent risks, because people with ADHD are brilliant risk takers.

But why does ADHD help a few people achieve brilliance and success, while leaving many others struggling just to get by?

That is what this book is all about.

While other therapies try to force those with ADHD to behave more like “normal” people, this book recognizes the genius behind ADHD and helps you harness it.

Are You or Your Child The Next Rebel Billionaire?
Are You or Your Child the Next Great Artist or Inventor?
Do You or Your Child Have the Potential to be a Great Leader or Rock Star?

Could very well be.

The DaVinci Method is your manual for getting there.

And that’s why I recommend it.
